I really do love knowing a machinist with his own shop! Here is how I spent a very cold saturday. First you take one camo painted KLR650 (which I happen to own) and 2 - 25mm plastic ammo cans (which I also own...luckily). Then you have a good friend make a great frame for them and blammo hard bags!! Here are the pics...

that is a really nice set-up. most of the time the guys mount the on there side on the back so the can get at both ends, but i really like this set up.

over the years i have sold 100's of those ammo boxes. boaters love them ( i sold one to a guy that goes out in the gulf a lot, he turned his boat over and lost everything but this box. it had his vauables in it and it floated).
the 4-wheelers love them ( keeps there good cloths clean and dry.)
tow truck drivers keep there straps and chains in them, etc..

they are to heavy to ship...............

you can get them real cheap at govt. auction if you can get shipping cheap...saw a lot of them (103) for $50! but they were in maryland at the army's proving grounds there...only 480lbs on three pallets! And thanks guys I love my KLR and my friend the machinist is awesome! He did that for me for free with scrap he had in his shop:wow: !!

Nice job. Your bike reminds me of a Harley MT500.

If you have those bolted to the rear sub-frame (which it looks like you do) be carefull of the weight you put on it. They were not designed to be load bearing and are known to crack under heavy load and rough roads. I had a similar setup on my XR650 and cracked the subframe. Easy to replace just a pain.

Dark, those look pretty good on your bike. Now you just need some rockets mounted to the forks :)

If I mount any weaponry I'll have to get a side car!!:smartass1:. Then I'll have a better place to put a pintel mount!:hubba: . Thanks for the heads up on the sub frame...it came as an after thought to us but my friend and I may weld on some supports to it of wait and if it breaks make a new stronger one?
