A while ago I went to CETME RIFLES to gain some insight into chambers. The folks were real friendly and there was a lot of info. I guess I wasn't paying attention for a moment or maybe I was tired but the next thing I knew I had my very own CETME parts kit and am now in search of a receiver.

Wonder how that happened????:p

drhall, the only recievers i have been able to find are from Century arms inc. I have a stainless cast reciever and not a stamped one. i have heard the stamped ones from cia are not the way to go.

The stainless receivers are probably more in spec than the stamped receivers while the stamped ones look more original. The main complaint with the Century stamped receivers is that the mag wells and the mag locking cuts are a little off and this will vary from receiver to receiver. This is easy to fix, but is just a PITA as it takes a little bit of time to correct. If you are starting out with a kit, I would recommend the cast, but a nice rifle can be made with either one.:)

Dave, I don't know what other firearms you have, but hanging out here is like a heroin addict looking for a methadone treatment. You start out with a kit, build it and see that it was fairly simple and decide to do another, and while working on that, you order in several other kits just because. Don't need a reason. Then you get the urges to go to gun shows and scrounge for bargins and treasures, all the while exploring the internet at auction sights for firearms. Then you get the urge to build a custom rifle and start contacting barrel makers and stock makers. You figure you can do the action truing yourself and Brownell's sends you a birthday card every year. The kids need clothes, the wife needs a new car, but that Zeiss scope would look so nice on that PSG-1 clone. You are a firearm addict.

CK,

We must have met somewhere for you to recognize me so easily. LOL. One day I'll get brave and post a photo of what I refer to as my shop.
