Kind of off topic, but did anyone see The Simpsons last night?
It was kinda weird. I figure either some pro-Muslim group paid
them or they were being sued for anti-Muslim views and this is
their community service hours.....

It was basically about Bart and Homer learning to appcept a
Muslim family. Not that I don't think we should all get along, but sheesh...

Expanding their audience perhaps?

'doh' is now one of the most widely understood words in the world! :icon_biggrin:

I did some volunteer work years ago teaching English to recently arrived refugees. I used Simpson pictures to explain things like 'mum' 'dad' 'brother' 'sister' 'daughter' etc. Didn't matter if the student was from Iran, Burma or El Salvador - EVERYONE knew The Simpsons!

I have stopped watching the simpsons the last few seasons, they have gotten very liberal and "preachy". I'm honestly not surprised they would have a "muslim tolerance" episode.

While I've got nothing against Muslims, I don't like being force fed this crap, nor do I like it ruining my favorite shows.

I guess it's kinda like not being able to show Muhamad or whatever the frick his name is ....

I saw it & wondered, "WTF?" I'm semi-tolerant of others, but don't try & cram it down my throat. There are a few Simpsons episodes I don't care for very much. The one where the real Seymore Skinner comes home from being a POW in Viet Nam. At the end they tie him up & send him out of town on a train. Look kids, this is how you treat veterans returning from a war.

If you watch enough tv, there are middle-eastern people in just about EVERY damn commercial. Catalogs as well. Talk about liberal! Ten or twenty years ago, this would not be happening.:America:

I have heard that Matt Groening (name spelled wrong Im sure) had to tone down the show because he agreed to open a Simpsons theme park inside of Universal Studios. And since people from all over the world go there to blow their $$, Im sure Universal doesnt want to offend any-one who would yell "Allah Akbar!".

Yeah I have watched the Simpsons since they were on the Old Tracy Ulman show. That episode seemed out of place for the the Simpsons. Most of the messages you got in the past were slightly subversive..
Sideshow Bob's right wing rants.. Lisa's left wing rants all made fun of the two wings without being preachy for real. They made fun of being preachy.
Last Sunday night's show seemed like something from PBS like Dragon Tales or Authur. Matt Groening has drank the Kool aid.

Egad! No! I missed it...
Surely there is a link from somebody PO'd by it?
The Simpsons have never failed to rip on anybody and everybody, including FOX, Rupert Murdoch....

I loved that show, at least the first few seasons. Growing up in the Houston area and later east Texas, I can attest that KotH was spot-on in its depiction of (some) small-town Texans. I knew plenty of Hanks, Bills, Dales, Boomhauers, and Peggies, which made the show that much funnier to me.

While I would not contest that the cartoon in question is completely disgusting and morally depraved, I fail to see how this constitutes as "child pornography". I thought child child pornography laws were meant to protect children from being exploited, not to enforce somebody's view of morality. In this case, there is no child involved to be exploited, so I think this ruling is a bunch of BS.

I think your'e right about KOTH being a Texas thing. It's certainly not funny outright. It's almost more like a parody.... I rarely laugh but always watch it. Just like i pretty much NEVER watch American Dad. I find it tedious....

Ya, the Simpsons thing kinda blew me away a little. It was so blatant. Just makes me think of how alot of Euorpean countries are catering to them...threaten terroristic acts because someone drew a caricature of their diety....gimmee a frickin' break .....:nonono:

KotH was as good as Simpsons but where the Simpsons were over the top absurd humor Hank & company could just as well have been done with live actors and still been as great.
I have a few friends in Texas and I agree, Mike Judge knows Texas.

Yeah, it's amazing what kind of BS the legislature can get away with when it's "for the children..."

I haven't lived in TX for 38 years (10 years old) but it still rings bells with me. My late mother swore she'd known a few Boomhower-types there.

Speaking of Simpsons and guns, has everyone seen season 9 episode 5 - The Cartrige Family? The one where Homer buys the pistol, its hilarious. American Dad has a funny gun episode, season 1 ep 14 - Stannie Get Your Gun.
