I bought one two years ago from Classic that they claimed was imaculent, Clean crisp bore and the blueing was perfect. What i got was a Kyber pass pos that wouldn't even headspace, Had been reblued and the stock didn't even fit right. With that being said i understand they are getting their Enfields from Century now and if thats the case you will probably be ok.

Did they say where it was made? Or who the importer was?
My Australian Enfield is a gem. So are most Brit rifles as well as the interwar Indian Smellies.
Mate, they are a fine rifle and you will love it for years. LONG after you get over this current work slump.

I like the surplus Paki .303 and shoot a LOT of it. You get the occasional click-bang, but that just trains you not to flinch.
I never got one of those Indian .308 Enfields - they just aren't up to scratch compared to the older .303s, to me.

PP, I did not ask the woman , she seemed to be in a big hurry, like she had to use the rest room or take a smoke or some thing.

No and it had no import marks either which was odd along with none of the standard markings other than England stamped on the wrist.. The first clue was when i went to headspace it and tried to screw another bolthead on, It wouldn't go on at all. Long story short i returned it and got my money back and don't deal with them anymore.

I'm pretty sure Longbranch didn't make any No1mk4s
Never seen one in the flesh, but you're right - they do have a brilliant reputation for Mk4s.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant Longbreanch never made any No1s.
I've never had any real interest in No4s - mostly because we never used them in Australia.

If you mean the silver 1967 SG ? I painted that one and did all of the mods to it . Badass bridge thats who makes it. Kerry King EMG pick ups and gain switch . speed knobs, diamond plate pick gaurd . bullet holes. ECT . Rob would love this SG ,it is set up for his kind of work and it has that bold Gibson sound x 100.

Sorry its taken so long. Been real busy, like everyone I'm sure. Anyway here it is. The stock is stained but solid. The metal, except the metal at the end of the stocks, is spotless. Not too bad I don't think. Plus the "US PROPERTY" stamping.

WOW US PROP , Thats cool. I dont know who makes mine.

How many groves and what condition is the bore?

I've said it many times... The Enfield type 1 Mk anything is a superb rifle. Even the bubbas are tack drivers. Not to mention the fact that an Enfield is a DAMN good looking rifle.
Buelligan
12-26-2008, 09:40 PM
BREW, you said a tack driver? will it allso be a tack driver with a 2 grove bore?
Otis61
12-27-2008, 12:43 AM
Four grooves. Condition could be better. Lots of ware at the muzzle. No ammo right now. I'll tell you how it shoots when I get some. No numbers on the barrel, but matching bolt, and reciever.
