i usually don't ever sell ammo, but i was digging around and found 400 to 500+ boxes of pistol ammo left over from when i did gun shows. i don't need most of it, i seldom shoot a pistol, so instead of selling to a dealer i thought i would offer some of it that i don't need, here. i have never shipped ammo so i was wonderning about the cost of shipping by UPS a box of 10 or 15 boxes of pistol ammo at a time. 7 or 8 pounds per box. i am just looking at a ball park figure on this. this is not a for sale ad. i am just trying to figure out if it is cost effective to do this.

when you ship ammo do you get the buyer to send a copy of there drivers license to verify there age?

i know about the ammo sticker for the shipping box.

anything else i need to know?

ps; i have read the shipping ammo sticky.

thanks

Usually a copy of a DL, or a copy of a FFL/C&R as long as I'm shipping to the address on the FFL/c&r...

Ron, I have never shipped ammo but in todays world with todays politics you can't go wrong asking for a copy of their DL or a state ID of some sort. CYA as best you can when it comes to these matters.

Hey Ron,

I just shipped out 3 packages of .30-06 ammo, weighing at a combined total of 103 lbs. and my total for shipping came out to just around $65 via UPS. I didn't need to provide a copy of any drivers' license or what-have-you, but I do recommend it just as a CYA to make sure the buyer is actually of age.

You'll need to provide an ORM-D label for your package (if shipping via FedEx), but in the case of UPS, I just used "ORM-D" in the description area of the label with no hassles. It helps if you bring a copy of your FFL, if you have one.

good, thanks, i think if i get the package up to around 20#'s it is going to cost around $22 to $25 per package to ship.

i am not sure that would be cost effective to a buyer. let me see what i can sell it for and add shipping to see what it comes out to.

thanks again.:airtight:
