Dad got this poor 6.5x55 swiss from a woman who was recently divorced. He's only shot her at 50yds, and insists he will use it to hunt some deer. I rag on him about it a little, especially after he stole the leupold that came with a model 70(from the same lady) and put it on his savage model 99.

It should be a Swedish 6.5 what does the receiver say? I use a 6.5 Swedish Mauser for deer and it is a fantastic deer cartrige. How much did he pay for it?

+1 on the Swedish round. Swiss use 7.5x55, and its a straight pull action.

6.5 Swede is a great whitetail round though.

Some poor bastage lost that in the divorce.

You know why divorces cost so much?

Because they are worth it.

Now, see, I wouldn't call that a Bubba job. That's actually a pretty nice sporter job. It looks like someone went through alot of trouble to get that rifle just right. That's not bubba, that's TLC... I have a similarly done Enfield. Wonderful deer killer with soft point bullets.

Looks like one that Kimber USA sporterized a few years back when they were located in Oregon.

When the Swedes sold those rifles, they actually converted many to sporters, then wholesaled and retailed them. Thus professionally done conversions. I think fifteen years ago those were dirt cheap too. Just like almost all surplus military rifles, when they hit the shore they are a dime a dozen, but when the supply dries up they become collectable.
