I still haven't got my ammo, I called they said we're running 30 days behind on ammo orders.

I had placed on order with them on the 23rd of November, and it arrived at my home in Indiana last Saturday the 6th.

Just place another order today, but I am in no hurry as I won't be home until March at the earliest.

Sorry no. The pics on the sight looks to be decent. I will get to test some of the 5.56 I purchased in March (hopefully).

Prices do look good. I did a interenet search on the company and would have to say I'm a little concerned about ordering from them now. There is a Rguns in Texas (good reviews) and a Rguns in Illinois(the one in question) it has very mixed reviews. Not bashing them just giving you a heads up. Not sure if I'm going to order from them or not

Rguns has been around a while. I remember seeing their ads in Shotgun News over the years. As far as reliabilty goes, on 23 November I ordered 2K+ rounds and they arrived (2) weeks.

Just my 2 cents.

Most of the ammo is off the website now, all that's left of the IMI is .45acp.

I got my first case, and they charged me for my second, so far it looks like I got a good deal on the 5.45x39.

I will say one thing thier customer service didn't leave me warm and fuzzy, they weren't rude when I called wondering where my ammo was, but they didn't go out of their way to help me.
I asked if they could check the status of my order, they just said "if you ordered it you will get it".
So I wait....

Has anybody actually recieved any ammo yet?

What is the quality?

Some guys at arfcom got some really terrible batches of the 5.56 stuff......

When I heard about how bad this stuff is on the other sites I tried to cancel my order but they had already shipped it and it arrived today.

I just opened my batch of 7.62x51 and its as bad as the 5.56 stuff the guys on ARFCOM got. Its not dented as bad as the stuff they described but its very badly tarnished. The cases look like antiqued brass. Some of them are so bad that they are dark brown in color.

I haven't shoot any of it but I decided to tumble it so I can really inspect the
stuff. This stuff is not normal surplus ammo as it looks like it was under water
or damp and out in the elements for a long time. I definitely would not recommend buying any of it.

Sorry to here that. Can you send it back?

brandyspaw

I decided to tumble it and clean it up and then shoot it in my cheap 308s.
I don't think its worth it by the time you factor the shipping charges to return the junk.

I'll know better next time than to buy from them. I'll just use reputable
vendors like AIMsurplus and Ammotogo.

Thats why I didnt order any. I did a internet search first and read some bad reviews on the company. You might try calling, who knows maybe you will get lucky and they will pay return shipping or give you a partial refund?

Maybe you should read the whole thread. What good is low prices when ammo is junk?

Do not tumble loaded ammo, it could break up the poeder and change the burn characteristics.

You certainly should do whatever you feel is best but this "don't tumble live ammo because it breaks down the powder's burn characteristics" is a myth.

I've tumbled live ammo for over 30 years with no adverse results. I also have chronographed surplus ammo before and after cleaning and noted no significant changes in average FPS or standard deviation.

Also, you might note the ammo makers use tumblers with far more force than our small ones before they box the ammo. Also, think of the amount of bouncing from rail and truck shipment ammo gets. Then think about the
the amount of rough treatment this surplus ammo must have already been subjected to.

For example, I shoot a small lot of the corroded 5.56 Guat ammo that Aimsurplus had a couple of years ago. Then I tumbled the crappy ammo to get the majority of the corrosion off and shot it again. No significant difference on my chronograph. I saved a small sample of this IMI 308 and
will do the same with it when weather permits and I'll report back.

Off course, the best course of action is just not to buy the junk in the first
place. I noted its back up on Rguns website.

+1 to that.

The outer surface of the grains have a deterrent coating to control the burning rate. Grains broken during tumbling have exposed centers (no deterrent) as well as increased surface area. Either condition will increase both burning rate and pressure.

It's your ammo and gun and face, you can do whatever you want. Ammo loaded at the factorys that I have seen is not tumbled after it's loaded. And I think that Surplus ammo does a lot more sitting then shaking. Just my .02.

...this "don't tumble live ammo because it breaks down the powder's burn characteristics" is a myth.

I would respectfully disagree with you. It is true that much of the evidence on both sides of the issue is anecdotal, and many observations don't pass muster with regard to proper experimental technique. This is probably due to the wildly varying amounts of total energy coupled into the powder as well as the components (PSD) of that energy, especially as it approaches mechanical resonance. Vibration seen during transportation (10-55 Hz) may not excite the same modes as frequencies seen during tumbling (hundreds of Hertz). And while ammunition manufacturers do a final polishing tumble, that process is characterized and controlled. I would venture that tumbling done by the rest of us is not. (Although I could borrow some accelerometers and the modal analysis system I use at work...hmm...I wonder if they'd let me...)

Whenever people say that they have done some practice for a long time and no harm has come, I tend to cringe. For example, I know one fellow who routinely pulls the lead bullets from his 22 WMR rounds and reloads them with 40 grain jacketed spire points meant for centerfire rounds. He says he's done it for some time without a problem. Does that make it safe, or is it an accident waiting to happen? Time will tell...

IMO, it all boils down to erring on the side of caution. Most of the time there is probably no harm done, but it's that one outlier at 100kpsi that could really ruin your whole day.

Well, I got the .45 and it is mixed with weird metal jacketed wad cutters, looking like gum drops or something. 2 weeks delivery.
I'm going to weigh some ammo this week and see if it is junk as well as dissassemble a few.
I don't need to blow up a Norinco .45 in my face.:nonono:

I did finally get my 5.45x39 from them, brand new just as advertised, I'm wondering you guys that didn't get what you thought you were, are you going to complain?

I just ran across this thread. I had not heard all the bad reviews about Rguns.net and their defective IMI ammunition. I almost purchased some of their "surplus" 7.62x51 ammo. This thread needs to be made into a sticky before someone gets hurt or killed using this ammo.

Here is another link about it:

I got two cases of the 9mm IMI ammo from RGUNS.com. I wish I did not! This stuff looks shiny but, it has LOTS of duds and some 9X21 rounds are mixed in with it.

I called them to work out making it right but, I was told, "THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT FOR THE LOW PRICE". $150/case plus shipping! About 3 out 10 are all duds.

Crap ammo and nothing in the add which says what you should expect as a failure rate. Misleading advertising and defective products. Last business I will ever do with RGUNS.com!!!
