    Stg-2000

Any thoughts from the members on the STG-2000 from Inter Ordnance?

And how do you get the front hand guards off?

Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse on this rifle.

The is no problem in this world that cannot be solved by the correct application of enough high explosives.

The only one I saw was basically a Romanian WASR with different furnitiure, but I think that was a Century Offering, not IO.

i'm not a fan, i shot a friend's. furniture was cheap plastic, handguard wiggled, basically a WASR. Looks cool and all, but i think an AK is better

worst thing about it is the SHORT sight radius, about the length of a pistol, i don't know how you're suppsoed to get any accuracy out of it.

looks different and all, but i don't like it one bit,.

    Talking Stg 2000

I remember reading a review in one of the magazines. They also commented on the plastic furniture and lack of heat shields in the handguard. It suposedly was much hotter than a wood AK handguard. I know from experience with the Saigas that unlined polymer or plastic handguards get hotter. I replaced the Saiga fore-end with a K-Var US made AK103 polymer with a stainless steel heat shield. It works VERY well. I can still hold the handguard after 300-400 rounds.

I've got one and had no problems with it. I did fill the stock with expanding foam to balance the rifle out a bit and give it less of a toy feel. The handguards are probably the worst feature of the rifle. To get them off you compress the front retaining ring and pull the sling pin out. Other than these features (and a few others, like the AR style FH) it's pretty much a run of the mill AK clone. I do find the feel of the rifle a bit more comfortable than a normal AK.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it considering how little I paid for it.

    heat shield

You could fabricate a handguard liner/heat shield. I did that with a factory Saiga handguard that I ventilated and it worked very well. I used the shiny duct work metal the hardware store sells. I made a "U" trough that covered the bottom and sides of the barrel (not touching) with the top open to allow the heat to deflect up.

    Just an idea...

One thing I forgot to mention that Rangemaster pointed out. Plan on adding aluminum heat resistant tape on the inside of the handguards.
