    Hi guys.
Does anyone have experience with this bird.?
After all the bucks i have spent on guns...
..my wonderfull wife wants a BIG talking bird.
She has had birds in the past..even an out door aviary..
with breeding gouldians and other exotics.
Our love birds passed about 6 months ago.
    Any input would be great.

If you read Michael Crichton's last novel Next, you might be afraid to have one in your house!

hey mick, my wife and i have raised exotics for over twenty years. we do not raise grays but have had a lot of time with them. they are good birds and very vocal. they are one of the best talkers of all the parrots. they are readily trainable, but do have a way of bonding to one member of the family if they are not handled by every one. hope this has helped if more info is needed let me know and i will get you some phone numbers to call and get more help. p.s. don't keep a cat with them.

Incredibly smart beasties. Science "used to" think they were, well, just "parroting" sounds, but it turns out the SOB's actually DO have some idea of what they're saying. There was one at a condo I worked at a while back, who somehow managed to put together the sentence "dirty, dirty cat" whenever he saw a cat. Pretty good. And, it was a waterfront condo, and he'd "bark" at the dogs across the canal, and get them all barking.

A gal I know has one, and, sometimes, she'll get ready to leave, go thru the ritual of the shoes, purse, etc., etc., and jussssst as she's closing the door on her way out, sure enough, the damned phone rings, so she has to run back inside, drop the purse etc, head for the phone......smartass bird.

I don't know if anybody else has ever heard of this, but, this parrot DOES remember people.... so, once, when I went over to her place, the bird vomited upon my arrival (OK, I'm leaving myself wide open for comments here), which I found to be odd, but the lady in question said that he does that when he deems male visitors to be suitable quarry for my ladyfriend. Anybody else heard of this? Maybe she was just BS'ing me?
