My boy now has a new "fortified position"/"pirate ship"

The assembly instructions state that it takes two "moderately skilled" people 20-24 hours to assemble. Well... I had myself (quite skilled... if I do say so myself) and my Dad (ZERO skill) the first 10 hours. Then myself and a kid without much skill but at least he could move for the next ten hours. Then myself and my nephew who has moderate skill for the next ten hours. Of course... some of those initial hours were spent preparing the site by pouring some concrete piers to level the structure up. I still need to get a load of top soil and some ST. Augustine sod in there to cover the concrete and level the ground beneath it. Even so, my boy had a blast the last couple of days playing "army men" and "pirates" so it was well worth the $$ and the time.

Here are some pictures of him enjoying his fourth Birthday present from us.

looks good. I used to love things like that when I was a kid. We used to build things out in the woods with random scrap wood we found. Beats the hell out of xbox. I think more kids need sticks and rocks and all the rest of that "put your eye out" outdoor fun.

and the list keeps getting longer....

Very nice.. I am sure he will get many hours of playtime in that. I like the cool windows and ladder.
I built one for my son of of leftovers from work (not that nice).
He indeed said it was his pirate ship, then a castle, after that a Indian fort.
We thought about it for a long time, "Endeavor to persevere." And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union

Looks good, a lot nicer than the one my kids had. If you have the luck I had mine lasted about 15 years and about 20 neighborhood kids over the years.
