    WTB: FAL 30 round magazines

    Hello again,

Looking to buy those curved 30 round FAL magazines. I was told they were originally Bren magazines chambered in .308 that were converted to fit the FAL.

Pictured below is what I'm looking for.

I doubt that was a Bren mag, Bren mags have more of a curve to them.

There was a guy on the FALfiles that was going to make a run of them I just can't remember who it was.
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself!

It was this auction that initially made me think it was Bren magazines. I also read one of the issues when they used these mags in the FAL was the weak spring since the Bren is top fed.

L4A1 (7.62 version of the Bren machine gun)
    Different mag altogether.

Are you needing one with the commonwealth lug still intact or modified for a metric magwell?

Not too sure. I was under the impression that the only 30 round magazine was the one in the auction link I posted. If there is another variant (aside from the DSA straight 30 round mag) then I'd have to check.

    Do you have pics?

Sorry for the mucking up the thread. What does your reciever magwell look like?

The reason I ask is if you have a magwell with a metric cut, the L4A1 magazines will not work without modification of the brazed on lug on the front of the magazine to resemble the smaller metric tab. And many times you can buy the L4A1 mags already modified for a metric magazine well. I think DSA even used to sell them this way. Again, the above only applies if you are using this in a "metric" rifle.

If you are using a commonwealth "inch" style receiver, or an IMBEL that has the magwell cut to accept commonwealth magazines, Disregard what I just typed, as the L4A1 will work just fine.

Just wanting to know what you were seeking, an L4A1 magazine that has been modded for use in a metric receiver, or a standard L4A1 magazine that can be used in commonwealth pattern recievers? Sorry for the confusion.

I don't have pics yet of the receiver. I'm pretty sure it's a Metric rifle.
