    springfield sar-48

i was at one of my local haunts today, strange little place full of guns and stuff to go with them. you know the kind of place i'm talking about. well anyway on the counter sat a sa sar 48 fal. it is stamped 1005-sa-48match on the right side of the mag well. on the left side of the rifle above the breakdown lever it says 7.62 mm sa-and what i think to be serial no. four digit number. it has a heavy barrel, an israeli type flash hidder and heavy bipod and seams to have israeli stock and hand guard. it is just a beautiful fal but i was wondering if 2800.00 dollars was out of line. i mean it's not an fn. what do you guys think?

did a little digging around and found an old blue book three or four years out of date. it has it at 1700.00 plus 20% for the israeli wood and bipod set up.that would be for 100% condition. i don't know, the asking price seems about 800.00 high to me but i haven't seen one of these in a long time.

I sold an SAR4800 with the para stock WAAAAY back. It is the sale that haunts me. That just seems way out of line when you buy a kit and get the Israeli stuff and have it built for less........I think. Cpt Ron would know. I'll bet Ron has way less in his Israeli carbine!

i like the springfield armory sar-48's. most i have seen were built on SA receiver and very nice kits.

if it is a israel built one built by SA then maybe it would be worth it, i think i remember that SA built a few.

i don't have a HB fal, maybe some day i will get one or build one.

if it is excellent condition i would not pay more than $1800 or $1900 for one, but everyone is differt on what they would pay. i turned down a really nice one like that a few years ago. the guys was wanting $1300 for it and i offered him $1150 for it, he would not sell it for that so i passed on it.

the springfield armory receivers were made by IMBEL for them.
