Sorry to hear you are from Cali, the thing you are talking about with Ar's is called a bullet button correct? I would like to see a picture of your front sight with the elevation and wind-age it sounds interesting to me.

The weather is unbeatable (it was 88 degrees today, cool breeze, cloudless), I'm close to relatives I actually like and have a good quality of life here. I've lived all over, and even with the inconveniences that can be a challenge to work within and stay legal, it's worth it (YMMV).
I'll take some pics of the front and rear sight.
The front sight has an adjustment for elevation and windage adjusted with a flat bladed screwdriver - I keep it centered and do my adjustments from the rear sight where my adjustments are finer.
The Tech-Sights AK200Y has an elevation wheel beneath the aperture and a windage knob/wheel on the right side of the aperture on the ear. Both can be adjusted with the point of a cartridge. I fitted my laser bore sighter and zeroed the sights to 25 yards using the wall on the far side of the yard. I'll do more fine adjust these the next time I go to the range for a 150 yard zero using Yugo M67 surplus and figure out how close my point of impact is between my different loads: Yugo surplus, Winchester JSP, Hornady SST and Corbon DPX at this range.

Here is a set of images to explain the top cover locking used by the Tech-Sights AK100/200 sights and show some of the details of the sights. I tried to snap a picture of the sight picture but focusing on the front pin while holding the carbine in the other hand just yielded a blur.

The grind marks are primarily around the area of the swell neck rivets and from the plug welds at the front and rear trunnion. The wheel slipped while I was grinding and nicked the rear ACE Yugo trunnion adapter and the modular stock piece. That will all be smoothed out with buffing compound prior to moly resin coating.
AKs, like sausage, are two things you don't discuss the gory details of how they are made when in polite company.
