Disassemble the rifle, remove the carrier completely. Pull the cocking handle back until the pin that attaches the cocking handle to the support is aligned with the holes through the cockng tube. Use a punch to drive the pin from underneath, out the hole in the top of the tube. It will be hard to get out the first time, the pin has a knurl around it's top. Before you remove the punch get ready to catch the handle and spring. Putting the spring back in will be an adventure the first time but its not so bad after you've seen it done once. Put the pin back in from the top and drive it down flush so it doesn't drag inside the c-tube.

But we already know how to do it. Maybe you should post doing it your first time, it'd be more fun to watch.

I'm having the same problems myself. I've broken two springs already. I'm not sure how the spring orients in the cocking tube support.
