    Egyptian 8mm FN49

I am not sure how it happened, but I think (no, I know) I just bought an Egyptian FN49 over the phone. It is from a friend,
so I am not worried about getting scr-wed, but what the heck have I got?? All I really know is it is semi-auto 8mm 10rd
mag made in Belgium rifle. Any info would be appreciated!

They're a Great Rifle. One of the very last 'wood and steel' designs. Very accurate, trouble free and well balanced. Over the years I've owned several Egyptians (8mm / 7.92x.57), a Luxemburger (30.06) and a Venezuelan (7mm / 7x57).

The only down side is the fixed box magazine (loaded by means of stripper clips), but one has to remember the original design is from the early 1940's... Congrats!

I like the looks, haven't had a 8mm semi-auto before. Plenty of ammo on hand for my mausers, so that isn't a problem. How old is that ad??

but what the heck have I got??

One of the worlds best full power semi auto rifles. It is like the FAL father or what the Garand is to the M 14.
I have an Egyptian and it is one of my favorite weapons of all time. There is a thread in here somewhere that I have posted pictures of NATO, Beligian and Congo native troops with them in the 1950s or early 60s. When you shoot her prone she throws up clods of dirt and grass. My groups tight. I don't think the Egyptians put in alot of range time with them. I did talk to an Egyptian officer about it and latter brought mine to show him. He said they were used by rear area troops from around 69' on. I should have taken a picture of him holding it.

Buckshot you will be pleased after you shoot it
We thought about it for a long time, "Endeavor to persevere." And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union
