Chief (cwo4uscgret) got me motivated to do a little range check on my fairly new Sig 556 and we finally had a dry day. The gun had been roughly sighted in at 40-50
yards using the Sig red dot scope. I decided to go for 100 yards, although that is really pushing it with my eyes and not using a regular scope. Basically, at 100 yards,
what I am seeing is the red dot, as the small black target was pretty much blocked out. Using some cheap .223 Silver Bear 62 gr h.p. I was OK with the results. I plan on
putting a Burris AR-332 3X prism on the gun. I feel with a little magnification, and some good .556 ammo, I would eat up the center of the bulls eye at 100 yards.
Oh, I was sitting when I shot, using an old rolled up pillow as a hand rest.
updated: The two stage trigger on the Sig, with the little push in bolt behind it (the trigger) is rather different. Once I got use to it - I found it actually works very well.
