IMHO that is a really good buy. If I was not down sizing I would buy all of them.
    Good find.........

The rifle in that pic has a rubber buttpad , gas cut off and a threaded muzzle. That is not a M59. That is a M59/66 with the grenade launcher and sight removed.

K98, I had somebody here call and inquire about these today, I'm definitely SKS challenged,,, so for my education, what you are saying is that these are a partially demilled 59/66, (for lack of a better description) and not a YUGO version between the M59 and the 59/66?

Yes,at least the one in the pic is not a m59. It's an incomplete M59/66

This is what a M59 looks like. Also note the M59's bayonet has a ring on it that snaps over the barrel. The 59/66 has no ring on the bayo, because it couldn't clear the grenade launcher.

k98 hit it on the head. That's an incomplete 59/66. Wonder if someone pulled a bunch of spare parts and turned out these. Couldn't tell for sure is the barrel is threaded or not from the pic. Maybe they just left them w/o the grenade launcher since I don't believe that rifle grenade was in use by anyone in the 90s? Interesting but a little pricey if it's a kluge.

I remember that there were some that were modified so they could be sold in Calif.and a few other states.
I wonder if this was part of that batch?

Thanks K, that pretty muchs dispels the rarity Of it being a transitionary model claimed in the ad description. Acquaitance of mine called me aboutthe ad yesterday. I was unable to answer him one way or another. Appreciate the clarification, will pass that along to him before he buys any of them.

I think Planning might have the explanation here.

I was very bummed, when I got the email fom Wideners,I couldn't get my credit card out fast enough.Till I took a good look at the pic.

The SKS was used by Bosnian fighters extensively for launching grenades. There are several videos on youtube. In all the ones I have seen the soldier put the butt of the rifle on the ground and braced it with his foot. If you watch the vids, it appears rifle squads seemed to have one soldier armed with a SKS to act as grenadier. The rest usualy seem to have M70 AB2s. Except for the sniper teams
