    .22 rimfire pepperbox revolver

Numrich is auctioning this and thought it was pretty interesting - current bid $1,000.

"This is a scarce .22 rimfire “My Friend” 7-shot pepperbox revolver by James Reid. Marked “Patented December 26, 1865”. About 20,000 of this revolver was possibly made from 1870 to 1872 in Catskill, NY.
This revolver features a nickel finish frame with scroll and checkered engraving."

This is the first time I've seen one configured like this. All of the others had the chambers exposed. Then again they were all ball and cap.

That should not be fired with modern smokeless 22 ammo. It is probably a brass cylinder and should be fired with black powder ONLY. Problem is, no one makes black powder 22 ammo anymore. Years ago, Navy Arms had an assortment of BP rimfire ammo in several calibers.

I kind of wish somebody made a modern reproduction of it. I think it looks a lot better than the NAA mini revolvers.
