    Fn FAL muzzle brake removal?

I'm really liking my new Fal except one thing. It appears to have a fake muzzle brake or flash hider. holes for the gas to come out are enclosed and the bayonet lug isn't real, just a chuck of metal. Has anyone seen these before? And does anyone know how to remove them and how to instal the real deal on it? I've tried falfiles but having àn issue registering so I thought I'll try asking here. Thanks

I have that exact same fake FH on my L1A1 when I had it built during the ban. those were hi-temperature silver solder on. if you really want to take it off you're going to have to heat that up to 1200 degrees, again. when they put that on they had to heat up the barrel to that temperature.

that's why I am leaving mine alone, I just don't want to subject the barrel to another 1200 degree temperature, I can live with a fake FH as it's just cosmetic, and I'm not going to be attaching a bayonet to it and doesn't affect performance of the rifle.

Anyone know if it's possible to have the barrel cut down and threaded? I can't do it (lack tools and skill) but does anyone know a smith in central florida who can do it ? Thanks, I'm trying to go for the para look

    Thanks

I suspect that is always an option. Keep it legal length or more and have it rethreaded.

Say .... is that a Leitz Tiltall tripod in the back ground??

I was planning on only taking a few inches off so I don't think it would be come close to 16". A close friend gave me the tripod when I had a little videography company a year or two back. it's a vintage tripod with little to no markings so I don't know what model it is

Edit: oops I found the markings, your right mate, how'd you know? image.jpg

If there are threads under that hider....perhaps you can slot it with a dremel wheel
and peel it off like a banana.
If its to bright....call ELLIOT LUCAS.!

I'm not sure there is, that why I'm trying to get it cut shorter
