they are still a lot of old weapons from WW2; germans, soviet, british etc.... that still around. the recent batch of weapons that pop up is in Syria within the last 6-10 years was the MP44/strumgewehr 44. also there are plenty of PPSH41s, PPS43s, STENs on the African continent/ middle east
