    Leupold fixed power 24x issues

I bought an old Leupold 24x fixed power scope a couple of gunshows back for what seems like a lot of money (more than I've ever paid for a nice variable mag scope!). It was in OK shape, a few scratches in the paint etc. but the glass is clear. The fellow I was with when I bought it reassured me that Leupolds lifetime warranty would repair or replace it if anything were ever to go wrong with it. It wasn't until I set it up on the 54r Mauser that I discovered that the turrets had been swapped so the left/right was on top and the up/down on the side. I tried the scope on the Mosin after that to see if using higher magnification helped with the group sizes (it didn't).

It finally dawned on me that the turrets were swapped so the scope would work better on a LH rifle so I set it up on my new Savage with the windage knob facing left (putting the elevation knob on top). Here's where the fun began for me this morning. The left/right markings were reversed because of the flip. I chased my tail trying to get the scope zeroed for a good part of the morning before I realized everything was backwards.

This scope has silver aluminum turrets with what looks like a cap on top. There are no visible screws holding the turrets on so they must be hidden under the caps. I haven't tried to pry the caps off because they look like they could be part of the knob itself, no visible seam or marks from having been pried off before. I can't get pics at the moment but I will.

Anyone here taken the turrets off of one of these scopes before?

I never have, but I sure would like to know how myself. it sounds like it's a nice scope.

I will probably send an email to Leupold with pics to see if they will give me a clue.

    Mike,
I'm not sure what type of dials those are, my best recommendation would be to ship us the scope and let us put it back to factory setting. Please box that scope up with a note that has all your contact info and brief description of the issue you are having and please mail that into us at:

I bought a used 24x fixed power scope and discovered that the
previous owner had switched the turret knobs. (I assume they wanted it
set up for LH use). I have not seen knobs like these before, there are
no visible screws. Can you tell me how to remove and replace them
before I screw them up? Pics:

Can't beat that offer. The Leupold range finding turret tops I have on two of mine have 3 very tiny allen screws on the sides to hold them in place. Yours
    are different.
