About 12-14" will cover anything we have. We occasionally get the real cold stuff, but generally it does not stay around long enough to freeze the ground real
deep. Of course their was always that winter of 2000 where we had zero or lower every night for nearly a month and never got above 20 daytime (LOL).
Water line looks to be a good 15", or better, deep. I am also putting a 200 gallon water tank in building that can gravity feed toilet and sink for backup.

nice idea on the water tank!

that way IF you do ever get in a bind later on... you can tie the gutters into it for a mini-cistern.

flush toilets are still one of the best inventions EVER!

trench for water line was not as long as septic line, but deeper and the rocks and tree roots made it a tough dig -

pictures not real good and make it look much shallower than it really is

Getting there - toilet is in and bolted down. Shelves and 200 gallon water storage tank will go in corridor past toilet. Also steps or something similar to get on top
of containers. Shower type curtain will block it off for privacy. Sink is in open area, not in corridor.
