Would be nice if they return them. Still take some time for CMP to received them, sort through them, inspect/grade them etc. We will hope if it happens that they are in decent shape too.

Nice! Maybe I can get in on one of those. Condition would be a concern though, very moist in the Pillippines.

I am sure CMP not would pay to have them returned unless they have some value - even parts sell. Conditions in Philippines might have been rough on them, also being a poorer
country they may have used them until they were pretty beat up and shot out. Plus, maybe poor maintenance, humidity, how they were stored, lots of unknowns. I doubt
they would be in the same condition such as those returned from Greece or Denmark. Still, that is a large number of Garands, so no doubt CMP can find some good ones in
the bunch, or use the parts to assemble some decent Garands.

For anyone who has not read it...there may be some truths in the speculations.

"There are 86,000 or so M1s hopefully coming back to the Army. We hope to see them in the future"

Looks like it is not a sure bet yet. They have not put out anything on it in their new letter yet. Apparently just showing up on CMP forum.

Searched for the latest pic with Pillippine M1 Garand's. This is what I found. From late last year. Reserve unit. Not too bad without actually looking at them in person, if these are any indication of the ones we might be getting.

I rembember a number of years ago, when Hiliary was at State, the Pillippines wanted to send a much larger amount of Garands home plus a number of M1's Carbines to boot. The decision was made at the time by State that they didn't want that many semi-auto weapons hitting the streets so told the Philippines 'No Thanks'.

I thought it was over a million total? Is my memory flawed in this? Anybody else remember?
