Received 6 Mil Serial Number Garand (CMP)

I had missed the cut on the past CMP releases of 6 mill serial number M1 Garands. They recently offered some, (at a fairly stiff price), so I gave it a shot.
Time passed and I assumed I had miss this cut too, but was notified about a week ago they had billed me and would be sending one. It arrived a couple
    of days ago.

As there was not as many 6 mill serial number Garands made they are somewhat desirable addition for a collection. I did not have one before now.
The rifle is a Springfield, has Springfield bolt and original (1956) barrel, but appears some of the small parts are mixed, which is normal on Garands.
Condition is decent, but I have gotten better. I likely expected it be more pristine because of it being a late manufacture Garand. Still they did see
use and some could have been loaners that were sent back. CMP inspection date on this was 09/15, so it was sitting around for a while before they did
this release. Also this came from CMP North Store, which to me is unusual as CMP processed/grades these Garands down by their South Store
in Anniston, AL. Orders are processed at their South Store location and Garands are usually shipped from there. North Store just a retail operation,
plus CMP has a competition range up there.

BTW I did touch up the nicks, etc, on the stock before I took these pictures, so looks better than when I initially received it.

Very nice! Looks good to me.

I might pick up a Garand next week depending on how things go. I'll post details if I do.

I can guess it is not from CMP as they do not have any currently for sale other than a rebuild, or an expensive sniper type (w/o mount or scope) (LOL)
Local find? Check it over closely and good luck!!

I was thinking the other day I really need to get another Garand. One of my favorite rifles to shoot, in fact I learned on the Garand. The club I belonged to issued M-14's, but they didn't have enough for everyone and since I was big enough to handle the recoil of the '06, I got the Garand.

I got one a couple years ago at the North CMP store, but the only ones they had like you said were the like new rebuilds or M1D's, I found a pretty nice M1D, but someone made me an offer on it that I couldn't pass up so I sold it last year. I was never going to "resniper" it anyway. I really just wanted a nice $600 shooter.
    I love you guys...

    Very nice.
I sold my last one to a member here a few years ago.
I had taken it apart to give it a good cleaning and when I went to put it back together later I had forgotten how. LOL

A family member bought one in the early 70's and put it in a safe to never be taken out again.

I am liking it a little better now that I have gone over it.

BTW they are giving me a small discount for the tag issue I told you about in P.M.
