Picture Thread: Battle Rifles and Iron Sight Targets

Here’s the place to post photos of your rifle(s), and the targets that you’ve shot with the rifle’s IRON SIGHTS. No scopes or optics please; we’re going “old school” on this thread. If you haven’t used your rifle’s standard sights in a while, here’s your excuse/opportunity.

My first civilian version of a battle rifle was a Century Arms C308 - Black Betty (bam-ba-lam). Here’s a photo of the rifle and a few of my better targets. Unless it’s stated otherwise, I was shooting off of a table with a gun rest in every photo.

Scaled target at 25 yds is supposed to simulate a full-sized target at 100 yds.

My current rifle is a PTR 91 GI – Triple B.

I shot this target while seated, resting my elbows on the table. The scaled target at 75 yds is supposed to simulate the full-size target at 300 yds.

    The target is 11x8.5".

And this was at 50 yds.

25 yds; 1” squares, 1” bulls-eye, 2” and 4” circles. I was standing, but leaning over and resting my elbows on the counter. (With Wolf steel-cased ammo too!)

The scaled target at 50 yds is supposed to simulate the full-size target at 200 yds. I shot this target while sitting on a pad with the rifle resting on the railing.

    Thanks.

My M1 Carbine first time at 100 yards. First 4 shots low, rear aperture set at 100. Last shot center, rear aperture set at 200.

Flier to the right was the guy next to me lighting off a 50 BMG causing me to flinch a little. Lol!

I understand. On my last trip to the outdoor range, the guy two tables down from me was sighting in a .445 rifle with a muzzle brake for an upcoming bison hunt. I tried to wait and shoot in between the concussion of his shots.

Lol! It tends to break your concentration a bit.

My M16A2, initial 25 yard sight-in, from bench rest (cobbled together bench rest!).

I was shooting Wolf Polyformance steel-cased ammunition out of my PTR 91 GI. I shot off of a table with a gun rest.
