    Stock Mod #1

I have to permanently(takes tools to remove) mount the wood stock, make it non quick detach. Modifying it so it still looks original from the outside. I am using the rear part of the de-milled receiver as I don't have a full receiver yet.

    Using the folding stock nut.
    stockmod1.jpg

This is how it sits in the rear of the receiver.
    stockmod2.jpg

It sticks out too far so it has to be milled down to about .010 under flush for a tight fit of the modded bracket.
    stockmod3.jpg

Milled down and ready to go.
    stockmod4.jpg

Have to center drill the bracket through the center of the nub to 1/4 inch for the bolt to go through into the nut.
    stockmod5.jpg

Then the nub has to be taken off so the bracket sits flush up against the rear of the receiver.

More on this to come in the next post!

    Stock Mod #2

The front of the stock needs to be bolted on from the stock side, can't bolt it on from the bracket side because it will already be mounted to the receiver at that point. Some stocks already bolt in from the underside, mine did not. Had to modify it.

Original screws and inserts along side the new 1/4 28x3/4 bolts. Also the newly threaded bracket.
    stockmod7.jpg

They fit perfect, just under flush of the top surface.
    stockmod8.jpg

From underneath. Had to ream out the stock holes a bit to 1/4 inch so they would go through.
    stockmod9.jpg

Final part of stock mod up next.

Barrel question. 1-in-10 or 1-in-16 twist rate? There are lots of 1-in-10 twist rate UZI barrels for sale but one place sells a 1-in-16. I have lots of 115 grain 9mm. I would think that the slower 1-in-16 twist rate would be more accurate with the lighter rounds. I have been reading that the 1-in-10 UZI barrels are designed to work best with the heavier sub-sonic 9mm rounds. I'm leaning towards the 1-in-16 rate barrel.

What's your thoughts on this? TIA

I am using original 1/10 twist for 115gr and also the heavier subsonic round with no issues.

^^^ same here... im on 1/10 barrels & have no problem at all with any weight bullet. those are 4 groove right hand twist.

edit note: thats only on 9mm...... my 45acp UZI has a 6 groove left hand twist 1/16 turn!

1/10 it is. Now to find the one I want. Leaning towards the McKay barrel. Going to be running their receiver and bolt group, might as well keep it all the same. They are in stock as well and priced good.

Thanks to the both of you!

Stock Mod #3 (last stock mod)

Final steps of the stock mod. Another part of the build done.

Mounted the bracket to the receiver with a 1/4-20x1/2 button head. Less stock inletting with a button head.
    stockmod10.jpg

Mark the stock with the bracket bolted on for the button head clearance.
    stockmod11.jpg

Everything bolted together! Looks factory from the outside. Just what I was going for.
    stockmod12.jpg

Even retains the quick release lever for more authenticity.

Good for you - like to see this project finished. Unlike me with my cut Bren receivers still sitting in a box (LOL).
