Just won a Chilian 1895 Mauser 7x57 DWM on GB!

I have been wanting a 7mm Mauser for quite awhile now. I got an outstanding price on this one. I put in a max bid I was not willing to go over and won it for less than that! Nice! Looks to be in nice shape, has a nice crest, and is all numbers matching except for the bolt. I can't wait to get this in and shoot it, after headspacing of course.

These are pics from GB, more pics to come when I get it.

So I have a no-go headspace gauge on the way. Now I need to get some ammo on the way. Only stuff I can find in stock is soft point, I like to shoot FMJ, but can't find any. The next thing is bullet weight. I see 140/158/175 grain available. I belive the old Mausers are designed for the heavier bullet, but not sure. I have read also that the twist rate on these will not stabilize the lighter rounds as well.

What ammo does everyone here use?

    TIA, Scott

Just ordered some 7mm brass stripper clips from Numrich.

Shipping on the Mauser shows it will be here Saturday. Anticipation is killing me now! Lol

Now I have some ammo on the way as well. S&B 140gn SP, 120 rounds. That should get me off to a good start.

So, a little tiffed right now. My Mauser was scheduled to arrive today, it didn't. Tracking shows it left Kansas City 20 hours ago. Usually takes USPS 3-4 hours to get to my city from there. Where the hell is it?! Now I have to wait until Monday, if it hasn't been lost. Dang it! USPS is really slipping this past couple of years

On a good note, my headspace gauge for it arrived today.

Edit: Just received a message it arrived in my city, 24 hours for a 100 mile trip. At least it made it here, late, but it's local.

You have not said if you got it, are they running a little late on mail delivery today?
