    Hurricane Irma

Good luck to anyone in Florida or otherwise in the path of Irma. Spoke with my uncle Wednesday and they were just finishing boarding up his places in Key West and Big Pine. They got a few islands behind them before having to sit several hours waiting on gas. Work just mobilized some crews to go down and help restore power if it hits hard.

my boss is boarding up his house... & he's on an inlet canal... said they were gonna go as far as fuel would take them since they have dogs & had to take the suburban...

which means in traffic, they aint gonna get far.

Good luck to all down there. It a big one and someone is going to get it even if it turns north. Also easy to forget not many ways out of Southern Florida and hard to evacuate.
    Be safe and take care.

glad the only thing I have to deal with is freezing cold and snow storms. at least with snow storms it doesn't destroy your home or having you packing to run away, it's just a nuisance.

I have 4 friends in FL. talked to them today. They are all safe. Three are on the upper east coast and one is in the panhandle. They are all boarded up and going to hunker down.
I know what they are going thru. But that is what we know will/can happen. We still like living near the water.

Well, I am here in the Tampa Bay area, and while there is plenty of wind, surprisingly little rain with this storm. My power has been off for a few hours now, but the generator keeps running so I am OK. I am inland far enough to not have any worries over storm surge or flooding.

Little bit of damage to the pool cage and fence. Otherwise we really dodged a bullet on this one. Down to a Cat 2ish by the time it arrived. No power. A Duke supervisor that i met in the field today said that it will probably be at least a week. Time to invest in a whole house generator. My power goes out everytime the wind blows.

Been a rough few weeks for Texas, Florida and now Georgia and South Carolina. Y'all be safe out there and report in when you ok.
