Heck they ruined the mummy wrap when the photographer accidentally opened it to photo the rifle. Up to $1,910.00

BUT it did start at $1.00 so there are some very gullible buyers out there!!!

Any bets on it hitting 2K (LOL). After this I think Classic will like auctions and we will see more of these rare, last chance to get, rifles of various types appear on auction.
After all they want to avoid "fist fights" between their employees over who gets them and that way they all can bid.

    You still have a few?

BTW wonder what my "rare" French 7.5 surplus ammo is worth now ---

As for it's record, in my opinion only here. So I don't need to be flamed
It was a very good nearly soldier proof rifle that's for sure
I mean it's built like tank and it's still compact.
More like a full power round SKS than a M 14, Again in my humble opinion
Why would you get flamed? It's okay to like a French rifle. LOL

I was never really interested much in the WW2 and beyond French weapons (just never spoke to me), but I do dig their pre-WW1 firearms. I've got a rather pristine example of a Mle 1866-74 Chassepot rifle built by MAS (Manufacture d'Armes de St. Etienne) in 1867 (second year of production, so pretty early specimen) and modified for the Gras cartridge in 1879. Someone once tried to pooh-pooh the rifle as being "a silly French gun," but he didn't have much to say when I told him it's entirely possible this rifle ended the campaign for one or more of von Bismarck's Prussian soldiers during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. (Yeah, the Prussians stomped the French in that conflict... but it wasn't the Chassepot's fault! )

Nothing wrong with French weapons. Politics and tactics? Now those are different stories. LOL
