3-rd group vs. 5-rd group vs. 9-rd groups

Guys, I just released a new video to talk about a topic that i've frequently discussed amongst my friends.
Do you guys shoot 3-shot groups/ 5-shot groups or 9-shot groups for accuracy testing??

I sight in a new rifle/sight with 3 shot groups(as taught to me by the Army) then verify with 5 shot groups.

Nice video Henry, I've enjoyed the past couple. I usually do 5 rounds if I'm shooting for groups. None other than for the cost of ammo I use for that type of shooting (sighting in for varmints).

What do you use for video equipment?

iPhones, a GoPro Hero2 that I got during deployment and a Canon 7D MKII
This usually surprises some friends: I usually shoot videos on public ranges with iPhones because I don't like leaving my expensive DSLRs laying around during ceasefires. Down range targets are usually shot with GoPros, but rarely i will leave a phone on a small tripod out there.

I use 3 round groups for initial sight in, and will verify my zero with a 5 round group. For accuracy I slow(ish) fire a 10 round group starting with a cold bore and ending with a warm bore. I don't let the barrel get "hot" when shooting for zero or group.

Nice shooting and very well done video. Bolt guns- 3rnds and then 5. Semi-auto 'military style', 3 shots then 20 rapid followed by 3 again.

When I was a younger man an old man once told me, if you want to know what you and your rifle can do, average four five shot groups. I have reached the point that most of my bolt rifles can shot better than myself. But I'm OK with that.

It depends, if is for show or if is a rifle that has a purpose. For a hunting rifle all you need is 3 shot groups, what happens after that when the barrel gets hot is meaningless. you hunt with a cold bore not with the average of 5 shots! LOL
All it matters is that you are sighted in and how close your shots are to bullseye not how tight together 5 shots are somewhere on the target. LOL

For killing paper and posting on forums etc...people do groups of five.
