The status of those weapons was made clear thru an act of the US Congress.
Those legal aspects were all covered and the import approvals all in place BEFORE the importer transferred the millions of dollars that they paid to win those rifles at auction.
Same importer hired people and cleared away the space in the bonded warehouse and was ready to start packing the guns in South Korea.
President Obama acted and stopped everything.
Now, the South Korean military still needed the funds to buy new long guns and retire the Daewoos.
You can guess where that money came from (it was the US State Department that wanted the sale of the M1's to happen so those funds could be used)

Their shipment time goes up and down depending on orders. They fall behind when orders exceed what they can inspect and grade, which is a on-going thing.
If they fall too far behind they sometimes cut off orders to allow them to catch up. If you think that is bad wait until you have to deal with NFA processing.
I have a Thompson locked up in Florida and a suppressor locked up in a gun shop up north waiting and waiting for the tax stamp. Last one I got took 10 months (LOL)

Garand's stacked up from many years of ordering, got them in racks now--
I just don't know if I could wait that long, It would drive me crazy. I'm going nuts right now waiting on my 1903A3! Lol

    Richard,

Was it CAI that was going to do this deal? I think I read that it was somewhere.

Century Arms was the winning / high bidder for all the M1's.
At the time I had the saved the link to the auction page, but that was years ago.

    More on the prices/grades[/QUOTE

As the article mentions the hard to find IHC has been offered several times in the last few years in limited numbers, and seems to be currently offered on CMP website.
Limit to one per person a year and you will pay a pretty big premium for them. I have heard some are not happy with the quality of the Turkish returns? Even if you are not a
member you can go to the CMP forum and get an idea what the folks there are saying about the rifles currently being sold.
BTW it may have been mentioned, but base price for luck of the draw (SA or HRA) Service Grades is now $750.00. Service Grade IHC $1,080.00

I bought a couple of the cheaper ($650) field grades years ago to check them out and was not happy with them. I let both of them go. The service grades at $750.00 are much nicer
and better condition, so that is what I would buy. You will pay a premium for the IHC and Winchesters when they have them, but SA/HRA's are reasonable ($750.00).
