    1889 Erfurt Gewher88

Picked this guy up by sheer happen stance.

1st year of production for the Gew88. Almost numbers matching. Rear sight & a screw aren't numbers matching. Has a good shroud. Amazingly enough, it has its original barrel. Which is rare I'm told. It has been Turked, but not much. The rear sight and bolt is in Farsi.

Shoots pretty darn well too with surplus Turk ammo. I know a lot of folks say don't use the surplus stuff. But after a world war and however much it was used by the Turks, it would have gone kaboom already.

Got it and almost a 1000 rounds of Turk ammo on stripper clips in the bandoler for the princely sum of a used Aimpoint PRO.

    Thumbs up

So what's the problem? You pick up a nice rifle and a wad of ammo at a great price and make me happy that someone got a good deal, and also printed a good pattern with it......Nice find and impressive shooting with the elderly lady. She's still maintained her looks pretty well also. At least I'm impressed.

No problem. No problems at all. I'm real happy with this one a lot. I had to sell my first Gew88 some time back, & have been looking to replace it since
