Colt Ar15a4. What an ar15 should be.

Got all nostalgic a couple months back & wanted what I carried in the army. While it's not an A2 I'll say that the a4 is a definite improvement for the ability to use optics.

Did a bit of horse trading to get it, but it was new in the box. Got the Matech BUIS on it. Put an old Elcan M145 on top since these pictures. Has the Canadian C8 look with that optic. Thought about getting some green furniture to finish that look.

This rifle reminded how much I love a full size ar15. Such a sweet shooter.

That's nice! I always liked the full stock/long barrel versions the best.

I really wanted an a2, as it was my issue rifle in the army. But I am a Colt snob to a large extent & all I could ever find was the Colt a2 match HBAR. While they're nice rifles, I Mitch prefer a government profile barrel.

So when this one was offered, I jumped on it. These Colt a4 can be unobtainium most of the time.

My issue rifle was an A2 as well but I really like the A1's with the 20" pencil barrel and triangle handguards the best.

    Just like mine.

The retro rifles are nice. That a1 looks good. I'd like it more finished in a Colt gray.

I've got a old pre-ban Xm177 ish rifle that I adore. I'd like to get a 14.5" pencil barrel for it.

back in may I picked up an early 1984 colt a2 r6400 I like it better than my sp1. Never would have thought I would like it better but I do. One of those guns that just feel right. Neil

I'd like to get a 6520, 723, or 733. Wouldn't really complain with any them.

I would have liked to have had the upper and lower in Colt gray as well. The black was the only thing available at the time I built it. I think I will start looking for a Colt upper and lower to replace them pretty soon.

the long barrels always look better with the full stock.

gets kinda weird looking when people put the shorty or collapsible on the long barrels.

I'm not an AR guy by any means at al but I do admit to liking my Colts. A pre-ban HBAR and a "restricted" marked carbine that was surplused from the Philadelphia PD:
