So. I have conceded to not being able to acquire an original Colt SP1 lower to go with this. Too hard to find and too expensive when found. I ordered a slabside 601 lower from Brownell's yesterday to finish off this build. Close enough and looks the part. I'll post pics when I get it in early next week.

    Pics of it from Brownell's.

Got the 601 lower receiver in and started to build it.

It's got a nice gray color to it. A bit lighter than my SP1 upper it's going with though. That's ok.

Finished the lower build. I know the trigger is not "correct" for this build, but I absolutely love the ALG ACT trigger. So smooth and crisp. I put one in all of my AR builds.

Wow. I admire you guys that can build these retro rifles! I am looking to purchase a retro Vietnam Era clone but all the vendors are back ordered and no telling when complete rifles will be available again. Anyone of you guys have a retro rifle for sale? I am not looking for a Colt but a clone with A1 carry handle sights, buttstock, triangle handguards, 20" barrel w/ bayo lug. etc. Don't care if it has brass deflector or forward assist?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Although not SP1 stuff, I get Colt and FN stuff from Shark Arms Customs and have always had great service. His inventory and offerings are ever-changing

    https://sharkarms.com/

And Charlie's Custom Clones has Colt stuff, although I haven't purchased anything from them yet, just browse occasionally

Just an FYI for you other Colt fans

    Nice upper and lower, btw
