really wanted to do it as a version of the BHA 54R pistol..... but so many people whine about the 54R pistols that i went the SBR route.

started this well over a year ago & just didnt have time to get to it. still dont have time, but have been squeezing a little in here & there. hope to get out to the shop tonite.

oh you will bud. no problem.

soon as i stop making changes & have it in a format that is easily repeatable for people to follow or purchase. was saving the boring details until finished, but lets just say that ive "toasted" 2 gas pistons trying to get them right & Super Shorty AK style conversions are something ive been doing all the way down to 1" barrels for a lot of years... sold piles of them.

PSL is a different beast. some things on this baby DONT cross over & at this point while i know it will "work".. its not a "version of conversion" that i would feel comfortable letting people use or selling as a service.

just need more time in the shop & some free mind space to get it all just right, safe, reliable & repeatable!

the new puppy is absolutely just eating my free time right now.

    UPDATED & EDITED IN NOTES:

ok was asked for some details on how it finished out.

so the gas piston is 3.60" from the shoulder ... this is NOT how i'll do any more of these. will use a stock CNC Warrior 2.5" piston & turn the barrel to the piston instead of taking the piston to the barrel. its a simple change & if i had just put more planning into this instead of trying to use the stock hand guards? it would have been much easier.

gas port hole is .0937 (3/32) it basically sits at the 8.5" mark on a 10" barrel. would go with this same size hole to start even when moving it back another inch.

if there is something in particular that you want to know? will do my best to post it up.

That looks like it could be fun. I'd think both ear plugs and muffs would be needed to save the eardrums. Looking forward to the range report.

    LMAO...

Don, you already know that i suck at range reports. im just not that good of a shooter. i point at it, shoot it & it either hits or misses.

this barrel is currently right at 10", but if i change the piston set up again it will probably come on down to 8.5". this is Your area, but im gonna guess that since the powder is still burning in 54R at 24" down the factory barrel & all that jazz... that at 1/3rd of that... im wasting a lot & dont really have a lot of bullet stabilization?

interested in hearing your take on that.

for me an SBR of this length is just a pistol with a stock on it, so im expecting to get pistol results at 30'. If i can hit gallon jugs with it at that distance? its done what its supposed to. :-)
