Ethiopian 8mm mauser

AIM Surplus has this stuff now. I think I heard some time ago to stay away from it. Don't remember for sure though.

Any shooters of of it here?

Ethiopian ammo had a review done, wasn't bad. Had the usual light primer strikes and varied in velocity. So, the usual milsurp problems.

You may be thinking about Turkish 8mm. I just finished off the last of my Turkish stock; bought 4k for $200 in 2003. Only fired it in bolt actions.

That Turkish 8mm stuff is really hot. It was a bit resistant to eject after firing through my Spanish M43.

Interesting video. I don't have an 8mm so can't comment on the caliber, but have a couple observations anyway.
One, I'd steer clear of that due to the hang fires. I've read the old saying about never buying mil-surp ammo from a place you wouldn't drink the water. I have run 400 rds. of that S. Korean 7.62x51 though with no problems at all. Maybe the water is better there lol!
Two, I'm glad I shoot right handed. Even though have to close the left eye being left eye dominant, working the bolt like he did in that first 5 shot string looks like a PITA.

Thanks for sharing that Video... I have to say not as bad as I thought it might have been.. But the hit for me was the box, that was a darn nice box..

You know I got to thinking after seeing that, if the ammo was warm or cool when he shot it.. One time had a batch of crappy Egyptian 8mm that I was going to give to a guy to reload.. It was 50% duds 25% hang fires... They we put it in the dashboard of the car on a sunny day let it heat up for like 2 hours.. and shot all the ammo with not one hang fire..
