E/135 on left trigger guard. Best pic I could get of it. It's pretty worn.

I just remembered that I had an HSC slide in my tool box. Here's the story on it:

I found an HSC at a gun show in the late 80's for $120. It seemed like a great deal so I grabbed it up. I took it to the range and it fired exactly one shot, no ejection. The recoil spring was sticking out in front of the pistol as if to mount a "BANG" flag on it. After some searching I found the retainer the spring pushes against on the end of the slide several feet in front of me. The web of metal where the retainer was machined on the slide was extremely thin and evidently had formed a stress crack that gave way with my first shot.

I took the slide into work and sent it out to a company that specialized in micro tig welding and they re-attached the cap. I dressed the weld up a little bit and shot the gun like that until I found a replacement slide for sale on German Ebay for $80 in the mid to late 90's. I switched out the slides and tossed the old one in the tool box.

The slide works fine, just looks a little rough. Give me a PM if you're interested, I'll make you a hell of a deal.

Did the old Distilled white vinegar soak and scrub. It took off all of the surface rust inside and out. Also got rid of the rest of the bluing, of which there was probably only 5-10% left. What looks like some rust discoloration is heavy oil to protect the bare metal. Also reinstalled the small parts with all new springs.

I think I might have a line on an original WW2 magazine for it through a trade. I shall update as the deal continues.

Got it in a trade from Legacy Collectibles. Great people there.

I received the WW2 grips in last night. They fit great. Starting to look like a pistol now!

Have you had any luck on a slide yet?
