    C96 Broomhandle Mauser

Hey guys, I recently purchased this from a neighbor, older gentleman who I had nagged over the years to buy it. I don’t know too much about it and would like to know anything you guys might be able to share. It’s in great shape, with minimal pitting. Also, it came with a shoulder holster unlike anything I’ve seen before with c96’s. Any info is much appreciated!

    Thanks

The gun has played a critical role in history. An invention which has been praised and demonized, served hero and villain alike, and carries with it moral responsibility. To understand the gun is to better understand history. "From Tales of the Gun"

Picked this up a couple of years ago along with the reproduction accessories. The 30 Mauser is a pretty stout round out of this rig. Sharp recoil.

Does it have any Markings on the barrel, and is there a serial number on it?? It does look nice..

Holster looks like a Chinese Bolo pistol holster, any markings on it??

For the OP it looks like a standard pre-war commercial pistol with the small ring hammer. Without pictures of the rear showing the back of the hammer and serial numbers its tough to nail down for sure. Also pics of the top showing the rear sight and the chamber markings not a lot of info additionally. The difference between the pre-war and wartime commercials are slight so those details help a lot if you want more info.
The holster is chinese pretty much for sure. Not a problem though. Neat guns, I've been playing with them since the 70s. I like shooting them and load my own ammo so I'm sure it will run. There is commercial ammo but its not always reliable due to lawyerizing of ammo manufacture. Don't run 7.62 Tokarev. It will fit and function but a lot of it is loaded hotter than the Mauser ammo. It can cause damage to the gun.

Post some more pics of the details and we'll see if we can give you more into.
