    2019 Hunting Season

Anyone have any stories to tell?

Bow season started here in Ark few weeks ago. First it was a little warm to hang a deer and keep flies off them. That quickly changed with nights down in 20s-30s.
Let the young couple that bow hunts give it a try last weekend and yesterday. They already have gotten a buck and doe between them. They can use the meat
so good for them. Nephews came down set up blind way down in the lower wilderness (creek bottom) area and had deer, including a nice buck within yards of them
but could not get a good angle for a bow shot.

Youth hunt this weekend 2-3 Nov modern gun. My hay/farm partner will take his son out this evening to give it a try. Modern gun season starts this coming weekend.
"Bubba" my renter and friend said he is about ready to start processing deer jerky, so will be getting him some meat shortly. He made a bunch of gallon bags of it
last year, some of the best I have had.

Will I shoot a deer myself this year, maybe not, like last year I will just likely coordinate the hunting on my land and the processing of the meat. It is not the lack
of opportunity as I could shoot one any time I want without leaving my yard (LOL).

Two fields in pictures have stands. Both are smaller fields that were drilled with winter wheat, which the deer love. Both always have deer on them. Not the only areas we hunt, but with stands are a sure bet to
    get a deer.

Can you find the stand in first picture

Deer season has been in here since August 15. Too hot to hunt this year until the end of October though. The rut is in full swing now so theres plenty of activity. Been having a hankering for some jalapeno/cheddar sausage lately so I culled a buck from the herd yesterday morning with my 6.8mm AR I built back in '06. If my memory serves me correctly that one made the 30th deer I've killed with it.
Had the Cetme out yesterday evening hoping to spot a tough old buck to turn into summer sausage and bologna, saw 12 does and yearlings instead.
Oh, BTW, the stand in the 1st pic is in the big tree in the center.

67 today, but back to winter this coming week, tomorrow possible snow and predicted 14 tomorrow night. My renter and friend got a nice solid 7 pt behind his cabin this morning and dressed it out
for jerky. This afternoon let my young bow hunter use stand above pond in front of house and he got a 10 pt with bow.

not gonna do any hunting myself this year.

wife has named every deer she sees & that causes "wife problems" if you get one of them.

over on the Elks Club farm that connects to me on one side they have let the idiots loose. so went all along my fence line making sure the posts were up, orange & Purple posted to not come over on my side.....

some dummy has a tree stand about 20' up in a tree about 4' off my fence, around here if you are that high up you aint a bow hunter. long as he stays "over there" we wont have any trouble but he's gonna be disappointed cause during gun season i usually shoot down that side of the hill every nite.

I do not know why they do that, I have seen them on fence lines (not here thankfully) actually angled to shoot towards someones else property.

Anyway, my farm partner and his son got a decent 7 point tonight. Super cold here, 12 last night and will be around 19 tonight, deer not coming out at usual times.

First shot killed a huge grape vine between him and deer, got buck on 2nd shot.

They are replacing parts as I write this. Too bad it went down in a real wet/muddy area making it harder to work on. They should have it repaired by end of day.
