I know some guys back in the day that were prior service, did kind of a quasi boot camp, a couple weeks just to learn customs and courtesies, uniforms and a couple other things that were different in the CG, maybe some deck seamanship and that was about it, no one yelling at you and all the other B.S., not like that anymore you start over with all of the other swabbies ....

I can see why he needed boot camp again after being in the Army going to the Marines, right after the lobotomy.. I kid, I kid.....

I had to go to full Army boot camp coming from the Navy. I did wear the rank of Specialist(E-4) through it though. That was interesting. Lol

There's no getting out of Marine Corps boot camp. We had an "old" French guy in our platoon in boot camp who had been a master sgt in the Foreign Legion paratroops (12 years in the FFL) and served in Vietnam. Everyone hated him because the DI's treated him like royalty and he didn't have to do any of the shitty stuff we had to do. He spent the majority of his time on "light duty". He joined the reserves just to get his US citizenship faster. They gave him a cushy job after boot camp as well.
