Another Mystery, Colt 1911 A-1, 1944 production FJA inspection, No "U.S. Property"

Scratching my head over this one,......

I took a 1911-A1 in trade,.... Looks like a re-arsenal, (it has a replacement "7790314' slide)..... However it has the "FJA" acceptance marks, a "P" just below the magazine release,.... SN NO.1731294.... However it's not marked "U,S. Property"

Could this have been just missed ?.... Or did some Colt 1911-A1's end up in the civilian market ?.....

Does it have Military acceptance/inspection marks? Just curious.

During WWII commercial production at Colt was halted. Unlike WWI where commercial models were produced though out the war all of those models have serial no. that begin with C. In many cases when these old war horse find there way home after the war their owners would scrub the U.S. Property marks from the frame thinking they didn't want to be found with US Property.

I am fairly confident this one wasn't scrubbed of the "U.S. Property" roll stamp,... The finish and parkerizing is consistent with a arsenal rebuild and shows no signs of alteration.... In fact both sides of the frame are the same thickness according to my dial calipers... And, the FJA acceptance stamp is still unaltered.

My pistol says "MODEL OF 1911 U.S.ARMY" serial #203627. No US Property stamp. I guess that makes it 1917 production. PAX
