Got my DPM back from SMG

Took a long time (about 6 months) from the time I sent my RTG bought DPM kit to SMG, but the wait was worth it. They did an amazing job the receiver was torch cut into 4 pieces and not one area shows it was re-welded. Bluing is better than the unissued Polish kit had (not parked, blued)..

They even retained the original Polish circle 11 1954 markings which were close to the weld seam I thought would be impossible. Receiver looks like it was never touched let alone cut with a torch in 4 places. Their bluing job was great.

They even touched up the wood that was damaged after the demil so it looks like it never happened. I'm very happy with how this SMG built gun turned out....can't wait to shoot it.

Pics don't do it justice, shot not long before sundown...so please forgive the shadows.

No collection is complete without at least one top fed pan mag gun...lol.
I'll post a range report when I get a chance to take it out. Glad I stocked up on 54r 20 years ago when it was $20 a 440 round tin.

For more info on this gun go to Youtube "DPM semi" and you will find a few vids on this same gun (DPM) by the same builder (SMG) via forgotten weapons review.

    That's sharp!

Looks ready to mount to your Curtiss Falcon, and then you can teach King Kong a thing or two!!!!

they did an excellent looking job on the build.

hope it runs as good as it looks.

and just so you know: in the first pix: you can see that you have "toe loop" magazines. once you start shooting & loading these? you will come back and ask me what that means. :-)

i'll wait till then to explain. its a real thing.

It's a great looking build. I hope it serves you well and we get to hear all about soon.

Yeah I get it lol....I loaded up 6 of them a while back and quickly learned I needed 3 hands. What I found that made it a lot easier was to cut up a shoelace and tie enough on to the loops to use my hand instead of a finger (got a small finger blister at first without.). After some practice it got a lot easier. Whats cool is as big and somewhat complex (for a mag) they are are pretty cheap...probably cause there is no demand for them. I bought 13 of them so far along with a gunners kit and some spare parts.

I'm using a Mosin sling for now cause a lot of old pics show them using them during WWII (DPM's came out in '44 as an upgrade to the DP28 and were used by North Korea and N Vietnam) hoping to find the wider leather sling that I think was the actual correct sling for it.

What amazes me is how extremely simple the gun is to take down, very few pieces, almost AK-like.

    Hoping to shoot it soon.
