    80% receiver legalities

Going to an evening show tomorrow. Last week one of the vendors had two AR 15 80% recs.

What's the going price on these now???

And what is involved as far as legalities are concerned.??

They're all over the place for price. Sota arms has black ones with the built in trigger guard for $58 or $56.50 for raw finish, Tactical Machining $49.99 standard pattern raw finish, $74.99 black, 80% arms starts at $69.99 for raw, $79.99 black, JoeBoboutfitters anderson 80% $54.95, raw $44.95.

If you don't have a mill, you'll need a jig an either a drill press or router. Only ever done the mill route with and without an older TM jig. Jig makes it much easier.

Legalities, depends on where you live. Generally if it's legal for you to own you can make one. Some states have a marking requirement. It looks like the atf is wanting to require marking on all all home built guns going back to 1968, but they haven't announced that yet. I mark all of mine as I'm more concerned about them being stolen and being unreturnable if there are no identifying marks.

I had heard the rumors that they were going to make us serialize our homebuilds, think it's gonna happen?

I do, I also hope someone takes them to court over them making up their own regulations that are being treated as laws.

If they do I'm gonna send them a bill for the labor it takes to stamp all these things and what it costs to refinish them.
