Not sure if I ought to post just here, here and elsewhere, or just elsewhere, but I'll trust the admin/mods to tell me how dumb I am if I post in the wrong place20190402_213107.jpg

    This is my *new* C308.
Bought it about a month ago. Took it to the range once. Functioned and shot better than expected, with a couple light strike non-fires - could have been the ammo, Remington something or other i think.

And a week ago i started taking it apart, cleaning, and looking up videos, writeups, and others' info, and using my rifle as a learn-a-long tool, as i read and watch.

Stumbled across this forum and i have to say y'all have some very knowledgeable and sometimes downright nerd status folks here
    I'm a fan.

    - Mike

Oh, as I learned to look for from y'all:
Bolt is at 1.8235" or 46.31mm

    Rollers are .3135" or 7.97mm
(Measured with a Mitutoyo Absolute, so should be pretty accurate, I hope.)

Don't have access to any of my real tools, so can't measure LP angle and all that, yet.

I hope you got dyslexic about the bolt head measurement. It should be 1.832".

Hahaha. Nope. And after reading a few posts, I'm not surprised you're the one who responded about that.
Trying to measure bolt length as flat as possible, but from different orientations around the longitudinal axis of the bolt, i get mics from 1.8235 to 1.8245.

I measured it after seeing a post by you about CAI ground bolts. And I think I may be a lucky winner

So far every ground bolt I've ever hear of or held has been 1.821". The wear on the side of the bolt just in front of the roller window suggests to me that there is significant roller peening in the window too.

You bought one of the new wood stocked ones from Atlantic?

I got it from a dealer in Oregon, who probably got it from Atlantic.
There's surprisingly not as much roller peening inside the window as I would have expected. Looking over the rifle, it's kind of strange how some bits look pretty ragged, and some bits look pretty decent - even on the same part.

If I have time tomorrow, I'll start a new thread with more detailed pics, so I don't hijack this thread. Definitely glad I got the rifle. It's a hoot to shoot, and I like projects. Glad I only took it out once before looking more in depth into things like the bolt and all, but I see it being a good range buddy soon.

You'll be okay. These rifles are surprisingly smooth shooters once dialed in. I really enjoy mine a lot.
