We have a number of Garands - this display was one we set up with the Garand Collectors Association in Chantilly, Va. They are all pre-WW2 with the exception of the National Match. On the right end is a Lend-Lease rifle hence the Union Jack. That's 3 generations sitting behind the table - dad, myself and my son.

Great photo and display, nice to see 3 generations being together and enjoying themselves.

This one is going to be given to my oldest boy later on this year as a gift upon him getting his officers commission in the Army. Its been rebuilt throughout and now sports an engraved trigger housing commemorating the event.m1 rt.jpgm1 floor plate.jpeg

Every good soldier needs something to tie them to the past and to give them something to grasp onto, and to find a purpose for what they are voluntarily embarking on. I thought what better symbol than this rifle. Who knows, it could have been the exact receiver that his great grandfather and great uncle used or even the one that his grandfather used.
