    New to CMP M1 Garands

Hello, does anyone have any recent experience with CMP and M1 Garands out there. I put my order in last week for a service grade springfield and I've been sleeping with visions of 30-.06's dancing in my head. I already have everything I need bought in fanasty land for this, but my last illusion of grandeur was a pain in the gluteus maximus so any input is appreciated.

Yes i got 2 Service Grade Springfield Armory M-1's from the CMP and received them Dec 14th 2007. They were both 5.8 Million numbered guns, both beautiful examples. One was almost perfect, only a W.R.A. milled triggerguard was not correct. I think the C.M.P. M-1 was one of the best purchases ever. You will receive plenty of attention at the range. Hope you get a good one!

How well of a condition was it represented in as the ads listing (ie. Bore<3 ect.?)
    Does it need restoration?

My Garands required only light cleaning. Wood and metal were as described or better. One carbine I received was good but on the lower end of the scale. You still can't beat the price anywhere else sight unseen.

The CMP is a National Treasure and their rifles STILL represent one of the best values in firearms anywhere.

Everyone should have AT LEAST one Service Grade Garand and as many of the other offerings as they can possibly aquire.

I'm set to order a National Postal Meter service grade M1 carbine in a few days, yes i'll have to eat beans for a month but "service grade" lasts a LOOONGG time!
