The low serial number Fed Ords are built with all USGI parts except of course for the receiver.Later on,they began building rifles on Chicom parts sets.As I recall, the serial numbers go to arond 60,000.In general, the rifles are well made.I have a Chinese parts set Fed Ord that is a fine shooter.I have upgraded it a bit by having a USGI bolt installed, and a USGI hammer and rear sight, and oprod spring. And oprod spring guide. And flash suppressor. But it shot fine before that.

Thanks Wayne, these two shoot the about the same, actualy the higher ser.#
shoots a little bit tighter groups, it also shows very little wear on bolt and gun in general. The low ser.# shows a lot of use on bolt and other parts,
the operating rod bushing is loose on the barrel can this affect accuracy?

    Thanks

If you are speaking of the oprod guide, looseness can trash accuracy.Fix is to knurl or peen barrel with center punch in little rows to bring some material up,and loctite it on.
