    GUN confiscation-Is it happening again!?

Guy's I just saw on the "Socialist" network news...err...cnn...that cops (swat no less and other's) are confiscating the gun's of evacuee's leaving "tha boot"...LA...to be fair though I don't know if it's all the evacuee's that have guns or those that may or may not be "registered" in LA.

I don't know the gun law's in LA. so more research into this is needed.

But this definitely seems on the surface to be another 2A violation!

If I remember correctly, down here in FL, our beloved Gov. Charlie Crist signed it into law stating that law enforcement could NOT confiscate firearms during something like that.
Can someone confirm it or tell me I'm wrong?

Were the confiscations comeing from those who were evacuated by the goverment, thus not indivuals but those on the sponsered buses or trying to get into a goverment run shelter?

okie you could be correct, unfortunately I only caught a side glimpse of the video package as the phrase "gun confiscation" caught my attention and made me start to pay attention then the segment went to other stuff.

It stand's to reason that it would be those getting on gov't transpo to leave that this would effect, although a completely legal firearm on law abiding citizen leaving with his property would not bother me in the least if I where to need gov't transpo outta that place.

on a side note I switched to "Flunkie" news...eerr...FOX news...and they did not mention any of this at all.

nothing about confiscation in anyway...those individual's or those on gov't transpo carriers.

that other carrier never went back to the issue of confiscation again and I stayed around flipp'n between the 2 for another 2 hour's!

I don't know of a Florida Based law, but I found this...

NRA reports passage of HR 5013, the “Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act,” which prohibits gun confiscation during emergencies.

When the bill passed, it makes another (the fifth?) time that Congress in a preamble to a bill finds the Second Amendment to be an individual right. It bars confiscation, and also registration (beyond that permitted by state law), by any federal officer, or anyone receiving federal funds or under control of a federal agency. Any person affected has a right to sue for damages, and recovery of legal fees is mandatory if they win.

I seen it last night on CNN myself. They were taking guns from people who were leaving town, staying in out of town shelters, ect... Bobby Jindal (the Gov) is susposed to be on our side to keep our guns. He helped pass the NRA bill on this a few years ago.

Yep that was passed last year if I remember correctly. No state or local Gov't can disarm those who face natural disaster. But, that said if the folks were getting on Gov't / public transportation then they would have to follow state and local law regarding guns. Louisiana might have lawa forbidding carrying of weapons on public transport.

Same thing in the shelters...no weapons allowed in the Red Cross shelters...kinda puts me between a rock and a hard place when I run radio ops in one of our local shelters during storm season...of course I still carry (without their knowledge) - they can utilize me or not - it's their decision... I'm making sure that I'm going home!

Jc i'm with you on that 1, if I were to help in a time of storms, which is very likely considering where I live, I would also have to carry without common knowledge of the so called "leaders", as it should be to be honest!

I like you must make it home or die trying!
