    New old 12ga

I was over at my father-in-laws for our weekly visit (he's 90) and was replacing a burnt out light bulb in one of the bedrooms. The closet door was open and I saw four boxes of this ammo. Brand new, apparently never opened, high wall brass 2 3/4 12 ga #6. Wow. The family had previously removed his guns from the house, with his permission, for the short time he spent in a group home, in case his house was broken into. He has told us to take the guns out and shoot them, since he can't anymore. Didn't have to ask twice. Somehow this ammo was missed, but I have it now. Neat. We get some great hunting stories from him when we bring the subject of his guns up, too.

Full boxes of pristine older ammo are very desireable to some collectors. Heck even the empty boxes are valuable. Check out some of the cartridge collector sites. Keep one box for historical reference and sell the others to finance stocking up SHTF ammo.

I collect vintage shotgun ammo boxes and that is nice find. It looks to be from the 1960s to me.

It might be, I didn't see any kind of date. No telling how long it was in the closet. Do you collect full or empty boxes, or both?

Both I have a room filled with vintage outdoor and hunting stuff. It where I do my reloading. I display them there . If the are empty if refill them with reloaded paper hulls. If they are full I just keep them. You have to admit most of the big name ammo companys don't use box art like that anymore.
Peters made some of the best and they used first class wildlife artist to do it. Remington did sometimes as well. Winshester/ Western had some nice Yellow super X boxes back in the 50 and 60.
