Yes you are correct, I was thinking of moving things the wrong way. We will see though, but I am assuming yes, the front its going to need to be raised a few mm to accommodate the added height on the rear. Hopefully I will be able to raise the front post up enough to be good without obstructing the sight. If it is too obstructive plan B would to thin down where the rear sight mounts since I have some extra thickness to work with there. Plan C, which is a last resort plan would be to replace the whole assembly with an HK style and call it good. Plan C is really worse case since I like the look of the CETME rear sight, it is just a pain since there is no windage.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but why not just use a HK rear sight/base basically it's what you got with your CETME mod, and you wouldn't have to rework the front sight?
    I love you guys...

No rain on this parade lol.

I had a few reasons, in order from most to least important.

    1. The HK drum sight is iconic to HK guns and my intent with this build was to keep it as "CETME C" as possible even though it is a pretty b**terdized version of a CETME C rifle. It has some flair and uniqueness to it that makes it my rifle I built, but not at the expense of those features that are more iconic to CETME Cs.
    2. I have a rear drum on my PTR and while it is nice, I like the simplicity behind flipping through for elevations verse spinning.
    3. I am cheap and didn't want to shell out the dough lol.

My bad, I had it the other way around, some early G3's had CETME type sights.

Of course you could go with a model "B" sight, that would look bad ass.

I wish they made something similar to that B sight.

It's basically a Mauser rear sight, I'm sure you could mod one of these pretty easy.

Have you test fired it with the standard LP yet? When I built mine I hacked on so many different things at once I was never exactly sure what actually made it cycle. I'm sure it was a combination of things but always wondered what it would take if I'd left everything else alone and just focused on the LP.
